COMMENT

Sourced from the original ‘Le Bataclan’ release, this is a nice re-working of an already sublime recording. The quality of the recording is matched by the content of the show and performance with the most obvious occurrences being the live debut of both ‘Gold’ and an exceptionally rare version of ‘Solo’. The original recording had a few slight flaws which were audible, but by no means ruined the release – these have been corrected on this 4DaFunk release. Firstly the audio level was extremely muted on the original and the volume had to be turned up high before it could be an enjoyable level – this has been fixed and boosted on here. The audio channels also switched on the original and the recording had a tendency to switch from one speaker to another – again, this has been sorted out on here. Finally the slightly obtrusive audience level during the closing few numbers has been reduced and the recording is now consistently level throughout the show with a healthy and manageable audience level adding to (what I can only imagine was) an extraordinary atmosphere. As with the original release, the TV appearance from the previous day has been included. Overall this is definitely superior to the original release.
