   The expanded 4-CD edition of the single “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough),” by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer has all the official released versions of the song — the 12″ and 7″ single, the versions that were on Barbra’s “Wet” and Donna’s “On the Radio- Greatest Hits Vol I&II” albums, and other remixes from various DJs — some are more successful than others- and three B-Sides, “Lucky,” and “My Baby Understands,” from Donna and “Wet” from Barbra.

   But the real treasure here are the tracks that have the two singers talking to each other during rehearsals, learning the lyrics, trying different takes on tempo and pitch, and how to hit the right mood/delivery of this song.

   The Music Shop & More really did an excellent job with presentation of this expanded edition of “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough).” Using different photos taken from the album’s photo session and creating replica album art for the 4-CDs, is a nice touch. Each CD has a custom label affixed to it that features credits, titles, record company logos, and “promotional copy” on it. Track titles are printed on the backside of each replica cover art, I guess these would be considered “album sleeves,” and the 4 CDs came housed in two double CD jewel cases.

   Sound quality varies on the tracks that were not official releases, but that’s to be expected since the source material was not meant to be commercially available. Recordings of the rehearsals, the writing of the lyrics, and the scoring, were likely done on a cassette recorder, so that it could be recorded fast and then could be listened to later without rushing.

   It’s too bad Streisand and Summer never performed this duet live with each other or if someone had recorded the original recording sessions (that would be just as good), but at least it lives on in the official releases and in this special expanded edition set.

   IMO, the 4CD set is worth it especially if you’re a fan of either of these two remarkable women.
